Daily Life of the Bowyer

He opened the door to his shop, a couple rooms on the first floor of his house and looked around. The smell of fresh wood and hemp filled his nostrils, the smell welcoming him back into the shop. He enjoyed the first few moments, the shop feeling fresh and giving him the energy to work again. He walked around to the windows and opened the shutters to allow the light from the sun to illuminate his work. Another smell wafted by him, a reminder to him that he had started the percolator. He donned a thick glove and picked it up off the small wood stove in the corner, setting it on the table after pouring himself some of the black gold the gently steamed. Sitting down at the window, he chewed on some bread while sipping the coffee, his mind slowly waking up to the new morning.

With the smell of the shop already acclimating in his nose and the coffee gone, he set himself in front of his most current project. "Why anyone would want a brand new bow on the eve of the tournament is beyond me," He said to the bow and himself, picking it up and eyeing it from tip to tip to make sure he knew where he left off. He set it down on the stand and took measurements at even intervals of each limb, marking with chalk specific spots and making mental calculations on how much wood to shave off either side.

After several hours of quiet, precise work, he set the bow down to stretch. He walked a couple laps around the shop, stopping eventually to fletch a few arrows, giving his fingers a different process to work on for a little. It wouldn't be until his stomach grumbled that he would stop his work, and get a bite to eat. Getting up he walked across the room to grab some bread. The bread was on the table next to the stove, which was dim but still going.

He turned and sighed. His work beckoned him, but he also knew he needed supplies. Now as good as any time, he grabbed his satchel and left the shop to go get some more supplies and stop in and see the other store keepers.
